Jackson Hole Mountain Biking Offers Best of Both Worlds

Anyone that's put in some fat tire time on Jackson Hole's trails can tell you without blinking that Winter Park's claim of "Mountain Bike Capital of the USA" is up for grabs. From easy "Aunt Bee" rides like Antelope Flats to mid-level trails like Dog Creek Trail and plunging steep downhills like Black Canyon Creek, Jackson Hole is a virtual nirvana for mountain bikers.

What makes Jackson Hole such a great mountain biking destination is the opportunity to see amazing natural terrain: geysers and geo-thermal wonders like Old Faithful, herds of American Buffalo, and the beauty of Yellowstone. Trails along the Firehole River lead to the Lone Star geyser and to the Upper Geyser Basin - home of the historic Old Faithful geyser and other geo-thermal draws like the Castle, Grotto, Riverside and Daisy geysers as well as the Morning Glory pool.

Beginning bikers will enjoy the Cliff Creek to Sandy Draw scenery with its rolling adventurous terrain. On the Snow King to Game Creek trail, don't be surprised to encounter bears and a steep, demanding single track that'll test even the most skilled riders. The 23-mile Cache Creek/Game Creek Loop offers the best of both worlds to those who love scenery and a challenging ride. You can expect wide trails through a cool canopy of conifers, a steep single track to high alpine pastures, and a sweet and swift descent. Departing from the base of Snow King Mountain, this wide trail meanders alongside Cache Creek through breezy, thick forest. The trail rapidly becomes steeper, slackening some as it nears the Game Creek junction.

Jackson Hole's numerous scenic and challenging trails will surely put the area in your top five mountain biking destinations. The mountains are teeming with hundreds of logging roads, two-track paths, single-track trails, and paved roads. The many biking trails here make an aerial view of Jackson Hole paths and tracks look like a relief map of the Andes.
